Green waves allow priority vehicles to pass through traffic lights on green. This is used to allow buses running late to catch up on their planned route as well as allow emergency vehicles to receive green waves to allow for safe journeys across the city.

To make this technology effective it is important that the vehicles are tracked in real-time. Generally vehicles are tracked using GPRS transmission which do not allow for second-by-second polling of location. With Mesh4G vehicles can be tracked and virtual loops created even in dense urban environment where GPRS access can be difficult at peek times.

Emergency vehicles can also be tracked whilst traveling at speeds of up to 250 mph.
